About the role
We are recruiting for a Head of Project Management to join us on a 12 month FTC basis, or secondment for internal staff.
As Head of Project Management, you will lead a team of three project management professionals and be responsible for the team’s portfolio, which currently includes UCL-led collaborative projects funded by national and international funders (Horizon Europe programme, Gates Foundations, EDCTP3, etc.). You will also develop this portfolio and the service offerings in close collaboration with the Director of Award Services.
The team’s remit covers project management services for UCL academics who are leading externally funded research projects.
We are intending to hold interviews during late w/c 6th May, and we envision a 1-stage interview process for this role.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should be a highly organised and self-motivated professional, ideally with experience of working in a higher education or research environment and knowledge of the Horizon/Horizon Europe research and innovation funding programme. You will have a strong track record of independently managing concurrent projects, setting budgets and timelines, and delivering to a high standard.
With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be confident in reporting to stakeholders and explaining complex contractual and financial matters to non-specialist audiences. You are a motivated self-starter who is comfortable managing shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
You will be a confident user of standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools (Office, Microsoft Project), and you will bring a strong understanding of project management principles. A collaborative person, you are able to understand other cultures and working styles and find a way of working with others to deliver projects and pieces of work.
