Berry Recruitment is currently hiring an experienced and commercially astute Procurement Category Manager – Facilities Management to work for a Research Institute in Oxford, Oxfordshire.
Role: Procurement Category Manager – Facilities Management
Terms: Hybrid working (3 days per week)
Overview of the role:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Category Manager to lead sourcing and supplier management across the Facilities Management (FM) category, including both Hard and Soft FM services and related subcategories such as Laboratory Equipment and Services.
This role is vital in delivering value, operational excellence, and innovation to support workplace environments and scientific operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement category strategies for Facilities Management procurement, covering services like M&E maintenance, cleaning, security, catering, workplace services, and minor construction works.
* Manage procurement for subcategories related to Facilities Management, including Laboratory Equipment and associated technical services.
* Lead tendering, negotiations, supplier selection, and contract awards, ensuring best value and quality.
* Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Facilities teams, Real Estate, Laboratory Managers, Health & Safety, Finance, and Legal departments.
* Conduct market and supplier analysis to identify cost savings, service improvements, and sustainability opportunities.
* Drive supplier relationship management initiatives to ensure performance and contractual compliance.
* Negotiate contracts to optimize commercial and service terms while minimizing risks.
* Collaborate with Facilities and Laboratory teams to forecast needs and contribute to strategic planning.
* Ensure compliance with governance, procurement policies, and regulatory standards.
* Support ESG objectives through responsible sourcing practices.
About you:
* Eligible to work in the UK and willing to travel as needed.
* Based in or near Oxford for easy commuting.
* Extensive procurement experience, especially in Facilities Management sourcing.
* Experience with laboratory equipment procurement within an FM context.
* Proven track record in leading complex procurement projects with measurable results.
* Experience in regulated industries (e.g., Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Research) is advantageous.
* Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Facilities Management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
* MCIPS qualification or working towards it is highly desirable.
