Overview
SEN / SEND Tutors (Maths, English or Science) are needed in Shropshire to support young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), SEMH, and other additional educational needs. Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the diverse needs we support.
Targeted Provision aims to transform the quality of education for vulnerable learners. You will be supported by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists and work 1:1 with children and young people in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner.
The SEN / SEND Tutor role
* This role involves providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other included needs referred to Targeted Provision.
* Young people are referred by local authorities and schools and may require support in their educational and social-emotional journey.
* Your role is to provide flexible and holistic trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring.
SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities
* Plan each teaching/tutoring/mentoring session.
* Provide holistic and engaging sessions that meet the learner’s needs and advance their educational and social-emotional journey.
* Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on progress.
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements
* Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS).
* Minimum 2 years of teaching experience.
* Experience working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other additional educational needs.
* Understanding of safeguarding processes.
* Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain at cost if needed).
* Two professional references.
* UK residency and right to work in the UK, including for remote/online assignments.
* Ability to promote health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and comply with safeguarding policies.
Employment status
* Engagement is on a worker basis to provide short-term engagements as they arise.
* Contract for service with PAYE payroll.
* No guaranteed or recurring hours and no expenses coverage.
* Insurance covers work done for us.
* This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position.
