IGCSE Science Tutor - 1:1 Support (Haverhill)
Location: Haverhill, Suffolk (In-person)
Pay: £25-£30 per hour
Hours: 3 hours per week
Schedule: Mondays (1:30 pm - 3:00 pm) & Thursdays (2:30 pm - 4:00 pm)
Duration: Starting as soon as possible until November 2026 (~9 months)
Overview
We are looking for a relatable tutor to support an 18‑year‑old student with their iGCSE Science course. The student enjoys Formula 1 and Mindjam, so we need someone who can keep the sessions relaxed and conversational. You will not need to spend hours planning as the course material is already provided, but you must be confident in Science and able to explain concepts clearly and answer questions.
Responsibilities
* Work through the provided iGCSE Science syllabus at a pace that suits the student.
* Build a connection by chatting about F1 or gaming while keeping the student on track.
* Meet twice a week (Mon/Thurs) in Haverhill, with hours increasing after April.
* Maintain a short‑to‑medium term commitment of 9 months, ending November 2026.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Comfortable with iGCSE level Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
* Patient, easy to talk to, and can act as a positive mentor figure.
* Reliable local availability for the specific 1:30 pm and 2:30 pm slots.
* Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one).
At £25-£30 per hour, this is a straightforward, consistent role for the rest of the year. It’s perfect if you want a regular booking with a student who has clear interests, without the stress of a full teaching timetable.
