We’re looking for a Lead Data & AI Architect to join our Group Data & AI Office (GDAIO) and play a key role in shaping how data and AI create meaningful outcomes across Royal London.
This is a senior leadership role with real influence, working across Data & AI Strategy, Technology, and Business Value Streams to ensure our Data and AI platforms are well designed, future ready, and aligned to our Group Data & AI Strategy. You’ll help translate strategy into practical, high quality solutions that enable better decision making, insight, and help our customers build financial resilience.
You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams, championing best practice while supporting a culture of learning, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing
* Take accountability for GDAIO sponsored Data & AI platform architectures that underpin important business outcomes
* Provide architectural oversight to ensure Data & AI solutions align with the Group Data & AI Strategy, on behalf of the Chief Data & AI Officer
* Contribute to the target state for reference data architecture, covering Data Management, MDM, Analytics & Insights, AI/ML and Decisioning
* Work in partnership with the Head of Data Strategy and Head of Data Transformation to clearly show how data capabilities enable business outcomes
* Promote clear architectural principles, patterns and standards, supporting consistency while allowing teams to innovate
* Collaborate with Group Architecture colleagues and participate in architecture governance and approval forums
* Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, listening to their challenges and helping shape data and analytics solutions that genuinely make a difference
What you’ll bring

* Strong experience in enterprise data architecture, ideally within UK Financial ServicesExperience designing data architectures that support customer data, insights, advanced analytics (AI / ML) and decisioning
* Good knowledge of modern Data & AI technologies, such as Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI Foundry, and decisioning engines
* An understanding of predictive AI and GenAI patterns, including RAG architectures and customer centric use cases such as next best action
* Experience leading data architecture teams within multivendor or matrix environments
* A collaborative leadership style, with the confidence to challenge constructively and the empathy to bring others with you
