Morson are working with the UK's leading defence manufacturer who are looking for a quality inspector to join the team at the Barrow in Furness site.Role descriptionLooking for a welding inspector ideally CSWIP.The role of the Quality Inspector is to undertake inspections of the product during build in accordance with the relevant inspection and test plansCompetent Quality professional capable of working under their own initiative and providing guidance to more junior members of the Quality department within own capability and skill base areasA member of the Quality team who escalates problems where requiredConduct Quality activities in accordance with the relevant processes and procedures and update where required. Domain areas include, but are not limited to: Dimensional Control, Electrical, Paint, Pipe/Mechanical, Radiography, Structural / Steelwork, Non-Destructive Examination (Weld Inspection), Receipt Inspection, Sheet Metalwork, Acoustic TilingCore DutiesWork as a fully contributory member of the Quality teamResponsible for demonstrating SHE and responsible business behavioursResponsible for conducting conditions management and customer walk-round auditsUndertake routine Quality inspection activities in their related area with no supervisionUndertake non-routine/complex activities in their related area with minimal supervisionManage own developmentAble to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the local Management System documentation e.g. policies, procedures, workmanship standards, risk assessments and COSHH assessments and processes and apply in their related areaLiaise / interface with appropriate areas of the business and build effective relationshipsUtilise calibrated measuring equipment to assess and measure tolerances of the product and record any non-conformancesResponsible for conducting the verification of non-conformancesReport results of inspections using agreed processesUse of Company computer systems and software as appropriateThe ability to articulate and deliver Quality objectivesThe ability to contribute in team meetings and working groupsRepresent the department at local Quality reviews and liaise with the customer when requiredThe ability to write reports and presentations and support others, ensuring accuracy and clarity of meaningThe ability to deliver resultsKnowledge:General Quality Control backgroundPrevious experience of InspectionUse of Mechanical measuring equipment (Verniers / Micrometres)Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) experience beneficialAwareness of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standardsGood understanding of own discipline and end to end requirements within Quality InspectionUnderstand how their own role and team fit into overall objectives of the functionKnowledge of product safety requirementsExport requirements knowledge (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR (where applicable)Knowledge of the Programme Inspection and Test Plan and how it is implementedSkills:The ability to use and train others in the use of technology and tools applicable to the disciplineThe ability to interpret specifications, procedures and contract requirementsEffective stakeholder managementIf you would like to apply for this position please submit an up to date CV.
