Finance Assistant

Robert Half is working with a well-established, growing organisation to recruit a Finance Assistant for their head office in Ely. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is actively studying, holds AAT Level 4, or has exemptions towards ACCA / CIMA, and is looking to build strong, hands-on finance experience in a supportive team.
This is a fully on-site role and would suit someone who enjoys being embedded in the business and working closely with stakeholders.
The Role
Reporting into the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes. You'll gain exposure across management accounts, reconciliations, and statutory reporting, making this an ideal role for someone progressing their finance career.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assisting with monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments
2. Balance sheet, bank, stock and GRNI reconciliations
3. Purchase ledger management
4. Supporting VAT returns and statutory submissions
5. Maintaining the fixed asset register
6. Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including audit preparation
7. Using Excel to analyse and manipulate data (pivot tables, lookups)
8. Liaising with internal departments to resolve finance queries
9. Supporting process improvements and ad-hoc finance projects
About You
10. Currently studying ACCA / CIMA, have relevant exemptions, or AAT Level 4 qualified
11. Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
12. Solid understanding of core accounting principles
13. Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs / XLOOKUPs)
14. High attention to detail and accuracy
15. Confident communicator and proactive team player
16. Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
