Overview
JHE & Partners are delighted to be working on behalf of a leading independent manufacturing & distribution company, as they seek to find an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance function. The role will be based in the organisation's large, purpose-built facility in the East Leeds area and will report directly to the Finance Director.
You will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, robust systems and controls, and the delivery of analysis that empowers decision-making across the business. The chosen candidate will be offered the chance to progress within the organisation to a Financial Controller position and then potentially to FD.
Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and company policies.
* Manage the general ledger, ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and timely.
* Oversee reconciliations across all key accounts (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
* Prepare consolidated financial statements for group reporting, ensuring accuracy across entities.
* Lead the annual budgeting process and support rolling forecasts.
* Provide insightful financial analysis to senior management to support planning, monitor performance, and drive decision-making.
* Identify opportunities for improving profitability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
* Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Keep up to date with best practices, technology, and innovations (ERP, automation, analytics) to strengthen financial management.
* Ensure timely submission of all tax returns (corporation tax, VAT, PAYE) in line with UK regulations.
Qualifications
* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience.
* Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, with strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, tax, and compliance.
* Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite and advanced Excel skills; Power BI desirable.
