Position: LGV C+E Driver

Payrate: £16.53p.h to £36.72p.h
Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of our Kidlington-based client for an LGV Class 1 Driver / Installation Operative to join their growing team on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a unique and varied role offering nationwide travel, excellent earning potential, and the opportunity to secure a permanent position after a successful qualifying period.
This role would particularly suit candidates with experience in timber delivery, car transporters, plant movement, or similar physically demanding transport and installation roles.
You will work as part of a two-person crew delivering, installing, and dismantling specialist temporary trackway systems, pedestrian walkways, marquee flooring, and matting for major events, film and television productions, festivals, and other high-profile projects across the UK.
No two days are the same — you’ll be travelling to different locations, working closely with customers, and assisting with the safe installation and collection of equipment nationwide.
This role requires a high level of hard work, dedication, flexibility, and commitment to working away from home for extended periods. The role is mainly Monday to Friday, however, flexibility is essential as weekend working will be required during busy periods, always in compliance with EU Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations. The position will also involve regular nights out, working away from home for a week at a time, and sometime multiple consecutive weeks away depending on project requirements.
Pay Rates (Training Period First 12 Weeks)
£16.53 per hour for the first 8 hours of each shift
£24.79 per hour after 8 hours worked per shift
£33.00 per hour for weekend work
Pay Rates Week 13+
£18.36 per hour for the first 8 hours of each shift
£27.54 per hour after 8 hours worked per shift
£36.72 per hour for weekend work
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside and supporting experienced installation teams
Installing and dismantling temporary trackway systems, pedestrian walkways, flooring, and matting
Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently
Maintaining high standards of workmanship on every project
Assisting with yard duties and organisation of equipment
Demonstrating safe operation of equipment following full training
Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
Candidate Requirements
Must hold a valid UK category C+E licence – No more than 6 points for minor offences only – No DR or IN codes for insurance purposes
Must hold a valid Driver CPC
Must have at least 6 months experience driving Class 1 vehicles in the UK
Positive and proactive attitude with strong teamwork skills
Excellent communication skills are essential due to the Health & Safety-critical nature of the work
Customer-focused and professional approach
Reliable, committed, and willing to work long hours when required
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Previous industry experience would be advantageous
NPORS / CSCS / CPCS / ALMI certifications would be beneficial
