Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be:
Currently studying a degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences; Data Sciences; Pharmacology; Biochemistry; Cell Biology; Chemical Biology; Bioscience, natural sciences, or similar
Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement.
If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: Sept 2026
Duration: 1 year (approximately)
Salary: A salary of £25,400 plus a bonus.
Workplace Arrangements: Flexible working via performance with choice (office & home working may be available)

The Role
Overview of the Department
The MDS (Medicine Development and Supply) team have a very strong vision to deliver innovative products and technologies that enable top-tier R&D ambition, enhance efficiency by harnessing the power of data & analytics across the organization and foster outstanding talent through development and cross-modality learning opportunities.

Key Placement Learnings
16. Collaborate closely with the Strategic Technology and Collaborations Manager within the Innovation Manufacturing and Technology team, applying a scientific and business mindset to practical applications such as road mapping exercises and competitive intelligence gathering through our existing external collaboration portfolio
17. Support the evaluation of external collaboration proposals and liaise with internal stakeholders for knowledge sharing, eg.: video recordings and forum exchanges
18. While this role isn't lab-based, we highly value individuals who bring a background in, or a passion for, laboratory work. This could be through chemistry practices, especially with small molecules, or biology/bioprocesses used in the production of large molecules like mAbs. If these areas ignite your passion, you'll find a place to shine in our team.
19. Candidate will be able to benefit from the hiring manager's commitment to coaching and personal development.
20. Support the assessment and monitoring of CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) collaborations within the MDS department.
21. Prospect key performance indicators (KPIs) across collaborations, focusing on sustainability, reduction of production time, cost of goods, and alignment with R&D goals.
22. Assist with communication surrounding collaborations and foster a culture of shared success. A variety of tools will be utilized for this purpose, including PowerBI dashboards, Aha! for road mapping, and video recording via Teams.
23. Participate in the creation of scientific outreach videos within GSK.
24. Handle administrative tasks related to collaboration project management and develop a business mindset.
25. Contribute to road mapping exercises across various themes within the various Alliances / Consortia GSK is engaged with and support competitive intelligence gathering.
