Dementia Day Service Support Officer
£35,520 to £36,585 per annum

As a Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting residents who attend the Dementia Day Service, helping them to achieve their personal goals, maintain independence, and enjoy meaningful, stimulating activities. You will provide compassionate, person‑centred support to individuals with dementia and other complex needs, ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Support residents with daily activities and personal care in a way that upholds dignity and choice.
* Build warm, positive relationships with residents, families and carers.
* Help plan and deliver group and 1:1 activities that promote wellbeing and enjoyment.
* Act as a keyworker, monitoring wellbeing and keeping accurate records.
* Escort and support residents travelling to and from the service.
* Encourage independence and help residents access local community opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience supporting older adults or people with dementia (desirable).
* Compassion, patience, and a person‑centred approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and respond to residents’ needs.
* Willingness to undertake a Level 2/3 Care qualification if not already held.
* Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings or weekends when required.

About Us
The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London.
