Directorate General Manager - Medicine
Are you a dynamic and experienced leader seeking an exciting opportunity to impact patient care and service delivery? We are looking for a DGM for Medicine to join our leadership team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. This pivotal role involves strategic, operational, and performance management across a wide range of clinical and managerial services, with a focus on meeting waiting time targets and continuous improvements in patient care and experience.
Responsibilities
As the DGM, you will oversee service quality, planning, resource utilization, and modernization. You will ensure the achievement of waiting time targets and other key performance indicators while driving improvements in patient access and care. Additionally, you will manage the speciality workforce, finance, and performance delivery in collaboration with clinical and multidisciplinary leads.
Main Duties
You will be a key member of the Hospital Management Team, contributing to corporate planning and performance management. A collaborative approach is essential, as you will work closely with primary, community, and secondary care services to ensure seamless patient pathways and efficient service delivery. You will translate health service policies and strategies into actionable plans within the performance framework and manage a dedicated team to meet operational, financial, performance, and activity targets.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.
About Us & About You
To succeed, you will have extensive managerial experience in healthcare, preferably within the NHS or a similar complex environment. Proven leadership in service improvement, strategic planning, and performance management, along with operational knowledge in HR, finance, governance, and clinical service delivery, is essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to engage effectively at all organizational levels. You should be committed to enhancing patient care, service standards, and fostering a culture of efficiency and high-quality outcomes. Experience in managing change and modernization initiatives is crucial, as is the ability to embed health service policies into operational practices to deliver tangible results.
