This is a fixed term position, until 30th September 2028.
This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to shape unforgettable experiences, transform the city during a global event, and be part of something that will leave a legacy for years to come.
As City Experience Manager, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of the city-wide visitor experience for EURO 2028. From wayfinding and city dressing to fan services, volunteering and information for visitors, you’ll ensure that every element comes together seamlessly.
What you’ll be doing
* Leading the delivery of all city experience elements within Newcastle’s EURO 2028 Host City Concept
* Overseeing wayfinding, city dressing, fan services and volunteer programmes
* Managing staff and managers across multiple workstreams
* Working with transport, hospitality, accommodation and city partners to ensure visitors have the information they need
* Managing significant budgets and ensuring value for money
* Leading procurement and contract management for goods and services
* Chairing working groups and reporting to senior governance boards
* Managing risk and ensuring inclusive, accessible and safe experiences for all
What we’re looking for
You’ll be experienced with a strong track record of delivering complex programmes across multiple partners and workstreams. You’ll be comfortable operating at pace, making decisions, managing risk and bringing people together around a shared goal.
You’ll also bring a clear commitment to inclusion, accessibility and creating experiences that work for everyone. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues, UEFA partners, city stakeholders and operational teams to deliver a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant city experience that reflects Newcastle at its best.
At Newcastle City Council, you’re not just joining a team — you’re joining a community that values ambition, innovation and a commitment to making a real difference.
