We have an exciting opportunity at one of our Cardiff homes to appoint an Assistant Manager. At Windsor Road we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Manager who will support us to retain the positive relationships that we have with our Regulators and Commissioning teams.
We are committed to supporting people to develop their independent living skills and live fulfilled lives, and as Assistant Manager you will work alongside the Home Manager to ensure the home meets all regulatory requirements while effectively managing a large staff team. This includes providing regular supervision, fostering an environment where staff feel encouraged and supported to evidence competency, and helping them achieve their personal development goals. A strong focus on staff retention and reducing attrition will be essential, with performance monitored by the Senior Management Team. You will also play a key role in the assessment and referrals process to maintain full occupancy, while ensuring compliance within the regulatory framework set by CIW. Above all, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality of support through person-centred approaches to care planning, ensuring positive outcomes for the people we support.
Key Responsibilities
5. Support the Home Manager in daily operations and deputise when required.
6. Lead by example, promoting best practice, values, dignity, respect, and service user rights.
7. Ensure compliance with policies, confidentiality, GDPR, and security procedures.
8. Communicate effectively and support efficient resource management.
9. Support the team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care and positive outcomes.
10. Lead staff induction, mentoring, and ensure adherence to care models and plans (e.g. PBS, recovery plans).
11. Ensure care plans are up-to-date, SMART, and regularly reviewed.
12. Promote service user involvement, wellbeing, and meaningful activities.
13. Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication across the team and with external professionals.
14. Oversee medication management, incident reporting, and staff debriefs.
15. Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, DOLs, and mandatory training.
16. Support staff supervision, appraisal, and development.
17. Ensure staff (including agency) meet compliance, induction, and uniform standards.
18. Assist in managing resources, reducing costs, and maintaining service efficiency.
19. Deputise for the Home Manager when needed.
Essential
20. To be considered for this role you will need to have a QCF level 3 in health care or equivalent qualification or be working towards Level 3 and be open to working towards a Level 4 during your role.
21. 2+ years experience working with Autism and Mental Health
