Job Description: Golf Club Chef
Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager
We are seeking 2 talented, reliable, and flexible Golf Club Chefs to lead and support the kitchen operations at Braintree Golf Club. The roles are essential in delivering high-quality dining experiences, ranging from daily golfer classics to bespoke event catering, all within our welcoming clubhouse environment.
Role 1: Minimum 38.5 hours per week
Role 2: Minimum 21.5 hours per week
Both roles will involve evening and weekend work on a regular basis.
Kitchen Operations & Food Production
* Prepare and cook a range of high-quality dishes, including daily bar menus, specials, and event catering.
* Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard of presentation and served promptly.
* Manage food preparation, portion control, and minimise wastage to maintain profitability.
* Oversee the ordering of stock, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and correctly rotated (FIFO).
* Develop and update seasonal menus and "specials" boards in collaboration with management.
Food Safety & Hygiene
* Maintain impeccable cleanliness of the kitchen, storage areas, and equipment.
* Follow and comply with all food hygiene (HACCP), health, and safety standards at all times.
* Complete all necessary kitchen logs, including temperature checks and cleaning schedules.
* Ensure the correct labelling and storage of all food items to prevent cross-contamination.
Event & Function Support
* Plan and deliver catering for club matches, societies, and private functions, wakes & parties etc
* Coordinate with the Bar & Catering team to ensure seamless service during large events.
* Adapt menus to cater to specific dietary requirements and allergen information.
Team Support & Leadership
* Work closely with the Bar & Catering Team Members to ensure high service levels across the clubhouse.
* Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding menu changes, wait times, and allergens.
* Supervise and train Bar & Catering Team Members or temporary staff to maintain consistency.
* Support the Food & Beverage Manager in managing kitchen budgets and supplier relationships.
Operational Duties
* Responsible for opening and closing the kitchen, ensuring all equipment is safely shut down.
* Assist with stocktakes and provide input on kitchen equipment maintenance and upgrades.
* Act as a key point of contact for kitchen-related matters in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.
* Undertake additional duties as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the club and its members.
