We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in South Wales, who are recruiting for a Democratic Services Officer to join their growing team on a locum, fully remote basis.
Both full-time (37 hours/week) and part-time (30 hours/week) options can be considered. The hourly rate is circa £35.00/hour (Umbrella), negotiable.
Responsibilities include:
1. Supporting Chairs of Committees with advice and briefings, and assisting the Democratic Services team with Member training and development.
2. Providing support for all elected member decision-making meetings, including advice on the Council’s Constitution, Standing Orders, and legislation.
3. Managing public committee meetings.
4. Taking comprehensive notes, producing draft minutes, and circulating for approval and publication.
5. Assisting with the maintenance and development of the Council’s online services, including uploading agendas, reports, minutes, and recordings.
6. Advising on Standing Orders, the Members’ Code of Conduct, and other procedural matters.
Requirements:
* Experience within Local Government.
* Strong understanding of democratic processes and decision-making.
* Experience managing public committee meetings.
