Engineering Manager Bus Operations (West London)
Salary: £63,000 £68,000
The Role:
Were recruiting on behalf of a respected London bus operator for an Engineering Manager. This is a hands-on leadership position where youll take responsibility for the workshop, engineering team, and bus fleet. Youll be visible in the depot, leading from the front, and ensuring every bus leaves safe, reliable, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, motivate, and manage the engineering team and workshop staff
* Ensure all bus maintenance meets DVSA, IRTEC, and operator standards
* Take responsibility for fleet compliance, reliability, and safety
* Plan and oversee preventative maintenance and inspections
* Manage budgets, training, and workshop resources effectively
* Support engineers with your own technical and mechanical background
About You:
* Proven experience in a bus engineering or fleet maintenance leadership role
* Ex-mechanic / ex-technician with strong hands-on workshop knowledge
* Knowledge of DVSA regulations, safety systems, and compliance standards
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate a team
* Able to balance hands-on technical input with strategic decision making
Required:
* IRTEC accreditation (or a strong understanding of its importance)
* Experience managing a bus fleet or large-scale commercial vehicle operation
* Track record of delivering safe, reliable, and compliant engineering services
