Contract Software / Golang Engineers - (Outside IR35)
Role: Software Engineer (Golang / AI-enabled engineering)
Day Rate: £450 a day (maybe some wiggle room for the right person)
Duration: Initial 6 months
IR35: Outside IR35
Location: Fully remote (UK-based)
We are currently partnering with a growing technology consultancy that is supporting a well-known UK brand on a large-scale engineering transformation programme. As part of this engagement, they are looking to bring in a number of high-calibre contract software engineers to play a key role in delivering meaningful change across their engineering function.
This is a high-impact opportunity to work on a complex transformation, combining modern backend engineering (Golang) with the adoption of AI-enabled development practices.
The Role
You will be embedded within a team that requires support transitioning from legacy practices and low delivery velocity into a more modern, high-performing engineering environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the migration and modernisation of monolithic / legacy systems into Golang
* Improving delivery flow, including review cycles, merge efficiency, and release processes
* Introducing and reinforcing modern engineering practices (testing, CI/CD, code quality standards)
* Identifying and removing bottlenecks across the software delivery lifecycle
* Coaching engineers to adopt stronger day-to-day execution discipline and technical judgement
This is a practical transformation role focused on delivering tangible improvements, not driving superficial metrics.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking engineers with a strong delivery mindset and the ability to operate within transformation environments.
Key experience includes:
* Strong Golang and backend engineering expertise
* Experience modernising legacy systems or monolithic architectures (C#)
* Solid understanding of cloud-native engineering practices
* Proven track record of improving engineering team performance and delivery flow
* Experience working with or introducing AI tooling within engineering workflows
* A pragmatic approach, balancing delivery speed, quality, and operational safety
Desirable experience:
* Exposure to AI-driven development workflows, agents, or developer tooling
* Experience improving team velocity without reliance on output-based metrics
* Experience scaling engineering practices across teams or organisations
What Success Looks Like
* A faster and more reliable path from idea through to production
* Reduced friction across code review, testing, and release processes
* Clearly defined and repeatable engineering workflows
* Effective and practical use of AI as a delivery accelerator
* Measurable improvements in team effectiveness and delivery confidence
Why This Opportunity
This engagement offers the opportunity to:
* Work on a high-profile transformation for a well-known UK brand
* Combine modern backend engineering with emerging AI practices
* Influence engineering standards, tooling, and ways of working
* Operate in a fully remote, outside IR35 contract with a competitive day rate
