The FEA Structural Engineer will report to the Structural Design Lead within the offshore wind division. The successful candidate will support floating wind projects during the FEED phase, contributing to structural design solutions and preparing project structural design documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out structural analysis activities using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., SESAM, ABAQUS, ANSYS) and standard structural analysis software (e.g., SACS).
* Perform detailed design calculations in line with internal requirements and current industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., DNV GL, API, AISC, Eurocodes, NORSOK).
* Review, comment on, and approve structural drawings for steel structures based on engineering design.
* Produce high-quality design reports and maintain documentation in accordance with internal procedures.
* Ensure all work is completed in line with the organisation’s QHSE policies and procedures.
* Conduct strength and fatigue assessments for floating substructures using relevant analytical tools.
* Apply engineering principles to support wider project teams.
* Propose alternative techniques and methodologies to resolve complex structural problems (e.g., sub-modelling, influence matrices).
Candidate Profile
Experience:
8–10 years of offshore structural engineering experience, preferably involving design and modelling of floating wind structures.
Education:
Degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or naval engineering (or an equivalent discipline).
Technical Skills:
* Structural stress analysis of offshore structures using FEA techniques.
* Knowledge of floating wind structure and foundation design practices.
IT Skills:
* Expertise with FEA software such as SESAM.
