Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Female Support Workers to join two of our incredible teams in South Shields, South Tyneside (Postcode NE34).
As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
We have two positions available to work within two services in South Shields, South Tyneside. Due to the need of the services this is an advert for female only support workers. We have a 16hr permanent post and a 32hr maternity cover post (expected length is 12 months) to fill. You will be working across two supported living services in South Shields, which are conveniently located next door to each other. As part of the team you will be supporting people with learning disabilities to live independent and active lives. The people we support have a wide range of support needs and interests, which will make your role varied and interesting. You will be supporting people with everyday tasks such as maintaining their homes, supporting with medication, personal care, social activities, preparing meals and attending appointments. There is a variety of shifts across both services, sleep in's, day shifts, some split shifts.
What we're looking for:
·A genuine passion for supporting others.
·Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
·Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
·A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract options:
· Part-time: 16hr permanent post
· Temporary 32hr maternity cover (expected length of cover is 12 months)
