Overview
This is a fixed term post for 12 months until 30/09/2026 due to maternity cover. The role is for a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist within the Hywel Dda University Health Board at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.
Prince Philip Hospital is a District General Hospital with around 250 beds. It provides a range of medical specialties and supports professional development and training to build on foundation skills and develop expertise. We are a patient-centred and progressive team that collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient safety and discharge planning.
The innovative and friendly pharmacy team focuses on patient interests and continually seeks to improve services. We welcome applications from English and Welsh speakers; Welsh language ability is desirable.

Main duties
The post requires a highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills. You will undertake a range of ward rotations and will also undertake dispensary based duties including clinical checking of homecare prescriptions and the infusions unit, as well as outpatient prescriptions.
These posts will enable you to deepen knowledge and broaden transferable skills under the direction of experienced colleagues. You will build on previous experience, developing greater autonomy and responsibility, whilst gaining experience in a number of specialist areas. The postholder will be supported to undertake the non-medical prescribing qualification if not already held, or will be supported to use the qualification to further develop expertise.
You will be expected to support junior pharmacists within the team as well as Trainee Pharmacists and Undergraduate Students undertaking the MPharm course.
The post holders will contribute to planning and delivering the medicines optimisation strategy.

Person specification
Qualifications & Knowledge — Essential
* Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent experience or qualifications
* Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Professional knowledge of medicines management systems and processes in an integrated NHS
* Experience of teaching and supervision of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students
* Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
* Knowledge of specialist area as described in the job advert
Desirable
* Accredited Pre-registration Tutor
* Accredited Diploma Pharmacy Tutor
* Independent Prescriber
