Location: Nimrod Way, Ferndown
Salary: £27,000
Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Working times: 5:30am - 3:30pm (30 min unpaid lunch break)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Principal accountabilities
* To aid the daily monitoring of production or prototype items as required ensuring compliance with specifications using a combination of manual and computer aided measurements.
* To learn and utilise appropriate tools to aid problem definition, data collection and evaluation, root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventive actions.
* Proactively Improving compliance and efficiency in manufacture by:
* Contributing to the use of Control Plans
* looking for opportunities for improvements
* Proposing solutions and follow them through to resolution
* To assist in the resolution of customer quality issues, ensuring action and resolution in an acceptable timescale.
* To work closely with other departments & suppliers when investigating production issues and work to achieve their successful resolution within acceptable timescales
* Liaison with ABL supply chain on matters relating to Quality of product
Health & Safety
* To ensure that all work carried out complies with health and safety requirements as laid down by the company and by external bodies.
* Ensure you have read and understood the company Health & Safety Policy and procedure are implemented to ensure everyone's safety.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment by ensuring the workplace is consistent with the company's health and safety policy.
* Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures i.e. Fire drills.
* To recognize all accidents, injuries and near-misses that may occur must be recorded in the accident book.

* To take an active role in company initiatives such as continuous improvement, quality initiatives or new manufacturing systems and processes as they are introduced.

* The post holder will also be expected to carry out any other duties which may reasonably be within the competence of the post holder, to meet the needs of the business.
Skills/Competencies:
* Experience in machining or similar role
* Awareness of manufacturing quality control methodologies, preferably within a high-precision environment is desirable, but not essential
* IT literacy – basic user of Microsoft Office Packages
* Interpretation of engineering drawings and machining practice is desirable, but not essential
* Basic awareness of computers and associated metrology software programs is desirable
* Ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels.
* Self motivation and motivation of others.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision.
* Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and willingness to take on a variety of tasks, new methods and procedures.
* Ability to work collaboratively with others.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Attention to detail/quality issues.
The post holder will be expected to visit other ABL sites and there may be an occasional requirement to travel.
