* London based contract opportunity – Infrastructure Engineer (GCP)
* No sponsorship provided for this role.
* Contract duration: 12 months
* Travel frequency: meet in London/Edinburgh office once or twice a month.
* Experience required: 9–10 years
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and configure GCP cloud services to support Customer Monitoring and platform requirements
* Develop and maintain Terraform scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration
* Implement automation frameworks and tooling to streamline deployments, scaling, and operational workflows
* Integrate and optimise monitoring, logging, and observability solutions across GCP environments
* Support FinOps activities including cost monitoring, usage optimisation, tagging governance, and reporting
* Ensure cloud environments meet security, compliance, and performance standards
* Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term fixes
* Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, DevOps, and architecture teams to deliver cloud‑solutions
* Contribute to platform selection, design decisions, and best‑practice cloud governance
Qualifications
* Strong hands‑on experience with GCP cloud services (Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Functions, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, etc.)
* Advanced proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure‑as‑Code methodologies
* Strong automation skills using Python, Bash, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, etc.)
* Solid understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost‑optimisation strategies
* Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security,, and governance
* Ability to work independently as a B2B contractor and deliver high‑quality outcomes
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed teams
