We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Cook who is passionate about food and wants to make a difference. You'll be working 30 hours a week (2 shift patterns over 7 days with hours between 7:30 am to 6:30 pm or 11:00 am to 6 pm) at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care. This is a long-established mental health hospital that provides an emergency admissions service across two acute wards. Haven Ward is Cygnet Hospital Harrogates 19 bed acute mental health service for men. The ward can treat service users on an informal basis and also those detained under the Mental Health Act. Sanctuary Ward is Cygnet Hospital Harrogates emergency acute inpatient service for women. The ward can accept service users on an informal basis and also those detained under the Mental Health Act.

Your day-to-day…

* Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
* Perform cooking tasks and other kitchen duties
* Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room
* Wash utensils and dishes and ensure they are stored appropriately
* Rotate stock and store deliveries
* Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
* Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
* Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations

Will need to cover cooking duties but also work as a catering assistant as required. Provide holiday cover for the chefs.

You are…

* Experienced in catering, preferably within a care setting
* Catering experience essential; dining room experience preferred but not essential
* Holder of a food hygiene certificate with good personal hygiene standards
* Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member
* Polite and professional with a positive attitude at all times
* An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
* Diligent and take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness
* Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team and under supervision
