PCV Technician

About Us
We manage a modern and well-maintained fleet of approximately 120 coaches and buses, with a near 50/50 split between Volvo and Mercedes, along with a couple of DAFs and Scanias.

About the Role
As a Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring our fleet stays roadworthy, safe, and reliable. Your responsibilities will include:
* Diagnosing and carrying out repairs, servicing, and parts replacements
* Identifying vehicle faults and applying appropriate repair methods
* Performing routine vehicle inspections and services using handheld data devices
* Attending roadside breakdowns and carrying out recovery work
* Conducting road tests post-repair to ensure quality and safety
* Applying mechanical, electrical, and body repair skills across the fleet
We'll provide your overalls and all the specialist tools and equipment you'll need to get the job done.
About You
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and thrives in a busy, team-oriented environment.
Requirements:
* Minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent (City & Guilds Level 1 & 2 acceptable)
* Full Cat B (car) licence
* PCV licence not essential – we'll support you in gaining it if needed
* Strong working knowledge of all major vehicle systems, including:
* Engines, gearboxes, drive trains
* Compressed air, hydraulic and braking systems
* Steering, suspension, and cooling systems
* Basic auto electrics
You should also be familiar with the use of:
* Workshop equipment: brake testers, vehicle lifts, tracking gauges, pressure washers, etc.
* Diagnostic tools: jaltest and other diagnostics aid, multimeters, vacuum/air gauges, laptop-based diagnostic systems, etc.
* Basic fabrication: welding, cutting, and body repairs
