Manufacturing Engineer
Planning and creating systematic processes for manufacturing components based on customer requirements and standard times to ensure efficient production methods. Involves developing processes for methods and costs, ratifying costs and methods when required, and supporting machine shop output and efficiencies.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)
* Creation of new and modifying CNC programs using Siemens / Mazak / Heidenhain programming languages.
* Preparing/updating manufacturing methods and supporting documentation, tooling, and setup details required for product manufacture.
* Developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Creating and maintaining robust and lean manufacturing processes (CNC and manual) satisfying product and process quality, delivered on time, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Daily/weekly support for manufacturing processes and activity, program creation, resolution of issues and concerns; supporting other manufacturing disciplines.
* Providing ongoing support to the machine shop to ensure economic manufacturing to the correct quality standard is achieved.
* Working with suppliers on all matters relating to the manufacturing process.
* Facilitating continuous improvement activities, analyzing production processes, and using problem‑solving methodology to identify areas for improvement.
* Constantly seeking new ways to improve production efficiency and cost effectiveness.
* Creating process specifications and material purchase specifications.
* Leading and owning control of manufactured consumables including tooling, lubrication, etc.
* Discussing and creating processes for rectification or additional work of assemblies and parts due to production changes as required.
* Supporting non‑conformance issues and improvements when required.
* Assisting with the cost of poor quality KPIs and actions.
* Providing ongoing support and training to personnel related to manufacture.
* Being available for further training if required.
* Working with managers and cell leaders to implement company policies and goals.
* Ensuring health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
Education And Experience
* HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering with extensive proven track record in a similar role encompassing the above responsibilities.
* Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques and detailed knowledge of CNC and manual machining processes in milling and turning.
* Team player with high level of energy and commitment for leading and implementing change.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with SAP or other MRP system; Excel and Word beneficial.
