Are you looking for a new challenge as an Adult Social Care Occupational Therapist? Then join our evolving Occupational Therapy workforce. We are looking for experienced Occupational Therapists for grade 8 posts (part time can be considered). There is an available role within our 7 day Active Recovery service, and within our Locality teams which works on office hours.

We are looking for a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist, with a minimum of 12 months experience. We offer a preceptorship program to support with transition from other areas of practice or return to practice. We have many opportunities for professional development that will enable you to broaden your experience across Adult Social Care. We will provide support and opportunities to enhance and progress your leadership skills and your clinical expertise.

In Hull, Occupational Therapy is a vital function of Adult Social Care, ensuring that individuals can maintain their independence and live life to the fullest in their own homes. We have established a close working relationship with multi-disciplinary teams across adult social care, and health colleagues to enable us to provide a holistic joined up service.


Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be supported to take a trauma informed approach to working with people accessing adult social care. You will apply the principals of rights based inclusive practice. You will use solution focussed conversations, and agree goals with people as part of a proportionate assessment process. Where appropriate to contribute to, or lead on the statutory assessment and review of peoples care and support needs under the Care Act 2014.

As a valued team member, you will be providing supervision and clinical oversight to Occupational Therapy Assistants, as well as carrying an independent case load. You will contribute to service development, policy and process for Occupational Therapy and ensure OT is embedded within the wider Social Care offer.

You will also have the opportunity to work with a varied case load including:

* Long term neurological conditions
* Offenders within prison and in the community
* Homelessness
* Short term intervention with those recovering from illness/ injury
* Learning difficulties and autism
* Carers

Sound interesting? We also offer a variety of opportunities to rotate between teams and work flexibly including full or part time hours, 7 or 5 day working and possible term time only working by negotiation. (7 day working includes weekends on a rota basis with alternative days off in the week)

Recognising the workforce demand these posts are enhanced with a market rate pay supplement in excess of the top of the substantive grade. An annual review will take place which could reduce, increase or remove the enhancement subject to market conditions.

Person Specification


Skills

* Grade 7
* Effective communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
* Ability to write comprehensive reports, maintain concise and up to date case records
* Use of IT good level of skill in word and email
* Motivation to work with vulnerable adults
* Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with vulnerable adults
* Innovate and creative to support disabled peoples independence, resilience, housing or care needs
* The ability to work with people who use services to coproduce improvement activity and service development
* Grade 8 All of the above plus
* The ability to support the development of staff and students through supervision
* Grade 7
* Proficient in use of database (e.g. Carefirst, Swift, Liquid Logic)
* An ability to read Architects drawing and work to scale
* Use of professional judgement to determine needs of individuals balanced against the risk to the individual, staff and carers


Experience

* Grade 7
* Experience of community care assessment (this experience could have been acquired on placement as a student O T), therapeutic intervention and practical knowledge of the treatment of a range of disabilities
* Experience of working in a team, supportive of colleagues and flexible in approach to team working
* Grade 8 all of the above plus
* Experience of manual handling assessments and care planning
* Grade 7
* Experience of working in a community setting undertaking home visits and assessments
* An understanding of co-production, personalisation and person centred practice
* Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
* Grade 8 all of the above plus
* Experience in supervising staff and or students


Knowledge

* Grade 7
* A knowledge and commitment to Making Safeguarding Personal and promoting the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults
* A working knowledge and understanding of medical conditions together with an ability to understand the process of a specialist assessment, activity analysis and functional outcomes
* A working knowledge and understanding of equipment and adaptations and how this is applied to service delivery and national standards for adults
* A working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures in relation to adults and housing and how these are applied to service delivery
* A working knowledge and understanding of the principles of co-production, working in person‑centred ways, how to develop resilience and improve wellbeing
