A friendly and experienced Support Worker/Personal Assistant is sought to join the small support team of a young adult living in Kelso with disabilities related to cerebral palsy.
This rewarding role involves providing support with daily living, personal care, and social activities both at home and within the local community. The successful candidate will help promote independence, wellbeing, and enjoyment, while also providing occasional respite support for the family.
The ideal candidate will be cheerful, patient, reliable, and able to build a positive and trusting relationship with both the young person and his family.

* Location: Kelso
* Hours: 5 hours per week
* Working Pattern: Flexible and to be agreed with the employer; some evening work may be required
* Rate of Pay: £14.85 per hour
* Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks pro rata
* Contract Conditions: Subject to satisfactory references and PVG check
* Probationary Period: 3 months
Job Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide support to ensure the young person’s safety, wellbeing, and comfort
* Assist with personal care as required, usually alongside the client’s mother
* Support general care needs, including assistance with wheelchair use and mobility
* Help maintain a clean, safe, and tidy environment, including the client’s equipment
* Build a positive and respectful relationship with the young person and his parents
* Engage the client in enjoyable activities at home and in the community
* Accompany the client on outings, appointments, and social activities, typically alongside a parent or another team member
* Work both independently and collaboratively with family members and the wider support team

* Able to use initiative and work independently when required
* Comfortable supporting a young person with communication needs
* Respectful of privacy and able to maintain professional confidentiality at all times
* Confident working within a family home environment
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience supporting young people or individuals with disabilities
* Knowledge or experience of cerebral palsy
* Moving and handling knowledge or training
* First aid training
* Full UK driving licence
