Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner
Contract: Fixed Term 6 Months; Hours: 4 - 6 Sessions; Location: Penarth Healthcare Partnership.
Job Summary: The post holder will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred clinical care within a busy and well organised general practice.
The role is focused on the delivery of routine and same‑day clinical appointments, supporting the practice in maintaining safe and effective access for patients. This is a fixed‑term position designed to strengthen clinical capacity, with an emphasis on consultation‑based care rather than additional responsibilities such as triage or service development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a range of GP consultations, including face‑to‑face and telephone appointments.
* Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with a wide variety of conditions.
* Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with local and national guidelines.
* Arrange and interpret investigations as required.
* Make referrals to secondary care and other services where clinically appropriate.
* Review and action laboratory results, clinical correspondence, and other patient‑related documentation.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in line with practice and regulatory standards.
* Manage clinical workload within allocated sessions, ensuring safe and effective care.
Clinical Governance and Quality
* Work within professional guidelines, including GMC standards and local policies.
* Participate in clinical governance, including significant event reviews and audits where appropriate.
* Maintain awareness of patient safety, safeguarding, and quality standards.
* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.
Working Relationships
* Work collaboratively with GP colleagues, nursing staff, pharmacists, and the wider practice team.
* Liaise with community services and secondary care providers as required.
* Maintain effective communication with administrative and reception teams to support patient flow and care delivery.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Complete clinical documentation, referrals, and prescribing tasks in a timely manner.
* Review and process incoming clinical correspondence and test results.
* Ensure all records are maintained accurately and securely.
Professional Development
* Maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge, professional registration.
* Engage in mandatory training and appraisal requirements relevant to the role.
General
* Comply with all practice policies and procedures.
* Adhere to confidentiality, data protection, and information governance standards.
* Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.
