About the role
The General Manager role has been created at an exciting time in the Festival Hall's history, as planning permission for redevelopment has recently been granted to turn the venue from a 'Hall for Hire' into a 'Professional Community and Events Venue'. We are looking for an experienced individual who will play a pivotal part in supporting the operations and maintenance of Venues and Events within Petersfield Town Council and The Festival Hall, ensuring our standards of presentation and customer service both on stage and in the rest of the buildings are of exceptional levels.
You will work closely with visiting companies to ensure their needs are met economically and efficiently, ensuring these comply with the agreed contractual terms. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards across all front-of-house and hospitality operations, including our in-house bar, and private functions. The role also encompasses oversight of the Box Office. A central focus will be leading, motivating, and developing our team. The General Manager will provide clear direction and lead the Front of House Teams (both Casual and Voluntary), whilst working closely with the Venues Manager to deliver the Town Council priorities and an exceptional experience for all who visit.
You will also take the lead with the Media, Marketing and Communications objectives of the venue where required – helping maintain The Festival Hall website to ensure all event data is accurate, as well as scheduling social media and e-shots, and plan on how to best advertise and promote all events taking place within the Town Council Operated venues, helping to boost attendance of a wide-range of house-produced, community and hired events. You will also lead on maintaining the requirements for the venue pre and post planned-redevelopment as well as look to plan outreach opportunities (such as pop-up satellite venues) throughout the redevelopment process. You will also be involved in supporting the Venues Manager with advice and any working groups/parties set up within the Council made up by volunteers, councillors or otherwise.
