The SHEAs main role will be supporting the delivery of the RAF Honington Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) and Fire Safety Management Plans, including support to Air Safety, Continuous Improvement, Quality Assurance and Food Safety matters, where issues overlap with SHEF arrangements. The SHEA will work closely with the other members of the Station to deliver the SEMS on behalf of the Stn Cdr. This post is advertised at 37 hours per week. The post holder will be responsible for: Investigating relevant health and safety hazards and referring pertinent matters to the Stn Cdr. The management of the Functional Safety Information Management System (FSIMS) and the Defence Unified Reporting and Lessons System (DURALS), ensuring that all reports are completed fully, in compliance with Data Protection Act, suitable investigations are carried out and recommendations identified and tracked. The analysis and trending of FSIMS and DURALS reporting to identify key risks. The continual improvement of the RAF Honington SEMS; working to increase SHEF reporting and reduce the occurrence of SHEF incidents and near misses. Organising and carrying out all SHEF first party audits and safety inspections of all workplaces. Providing audit reports and tracking recommendations arising from the audit. The maintenance of accidents and dangerous occurrence records, causal factors, and consequential recommendations. Coordinating the SHEF training requirements and the management of training documentation. Ensuring that appropriate SHEF information is promulgated to appropriate stakeholders and all relevant SharePoint sites are kept up to date. The risk manager for the RAF Honington Safety Risk Register on PARMIS (Performance & Risk Management Information System). The review of safety reporting and assurance activity to identify areas of risk. Preparation for the RAF Honington Risk Management Team Quarterly Meeting and higher-level Safety Meetings Monitoring compliance with SHEF regulation to provide assurance to the Stn Cdr that activities are conducted in accordance with extant regulation for Safe Systems of Work and Safety Places of Work and highlighting areas of risk and prohibiting any work activity that involves an imminent risk of serious personal injury. Operating an on-call system (mobile telephone) to provide support in the event of a serious incident on Stn. Act as the Station Hearing Conservation Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and Laser Safety Officer. The line management of the 3 civil servants (SEPA (EO), EFFP(EO) and Safety Section (AO)). Person specification This role is suited to someone who is highly organised, confident using IT and enjoys being part of a high performing team. The successful candidate must be able to interpret policy to make sound decisions, whilst working in a busy operational environment as tasks can be time sensitive but also require careful consideration to ensure appropriate scrutiny is applied to all decisions. The ability to communicate effectively is essential as you will be engaging with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally.
