The Role In this developmental role, you will learn, train and develop into a Design Engineer who can efficiently engineer safe, accurate and complete manufacturing instructions and technical drawings. A day in the life of an Engineering Apprentice Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Gain an understanding of PRS as a whole company, and how workflows through the business. Undertake placements within multiple areas of the business as part of training. Develop product and process knowledge. Maintain apprentice logbook. Attend regular mentor review meetings. Work in harmony with others in team. Ensure that safety requirements are met and work in accordance with the companys procedures and legislation. Wearing of correct PPE, Housekeeping etc. Reporting of accidents and ''near miss'' incidents in accordance with procedures Ensure quality standards are met and improved on wherever possible Work to understand departmental systems and develop an ability to identify areas for improvement Produce renewal and export 1:50 layout drawings using CAD to necessary standards. Working with others to clarify requirements Produce detailed manufacturing instructions (2D CAD drawings, work instructions and some NC information) Assist in the drafting of standard detail drawings Work to understand production routes Assist with the resolution of production related problems Assist in the implementation of new products Work to understand manufacturing costs and process times Understand and use in house systems including (but not limited to) Axapta (MRP) and QPulse (Quality) Work in compliance with local procedures and work instructions About You Essential Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English and another STEM subject (or equivalent qualification) Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others Good communication skills Being proactive and autonomous when required Good problem-solving skills Ability to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines and targets Willingness to learn Flexible and willing to work additional hours where reasonably required Desirable Good knowledge of MS Office package including Excel Ability to read and understand engineering drawings Whats in it for you Salary: £19,000 We put our people at the heart of our culture.
