We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as a SISS and Gateline Engineer.


It is an exciting time to join c2c as we move into a new era of railway reform, aligning with Great British Railways (GBR) and the Department for Transport (DfT) to deliver a simpler, more connected and passenger-focused railway.


As Infrastructure Manager for all c2c stations under a 99-year lease, our Asset Management team is responsible for the long-term safety, functionality and resilience of the network’s mechanical and electrical systems.


Purpose of the Job:


The SISS and Gateline Asset Engineer provides technical leadership, assurance and strategic support across the c2c route. The role ensures that Station Information and Security System (SISS) assets which include CCTV, PA/VA, Telecoms, Electronic Access Control security systems, PHPs and induction loops, Driver Only Operation (DOO), Configuration Management Data network cabling, is safe, compliant, efficient and aligned with long-term asset management principles. The role also includes oversight of Gate line revenue generation systems.


The SISS and Gate line Asset Engineer will support the Head of M&E and IT in developing a clear

understanding of asset condition and associated risk across the route, helping to prioritise investment based on evidence, performance and whole-life value. This role will contribute to the development of asset investment strategies and intervention planning, ensuring that each action aligns with c2c’s Asset Management System and the long-term goals of reliability, sustainability and compliance. The role will assist in managing a small but technical team.


This post offers the opportunity to drive meaningful improvement in safety, data and revenue generating infrastructure, including the chance to define and oversee design and delivery of new gate lines, SISS asset refresh, and Communication equipment Room Builds(CER) builds to a best-in-class, fully compliant standard that demonstrates good engineering practice and can show it delivers tangible value to the business and the taxpayer.


Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications Required:

* Curious, proactive can-do attitude with passion for data systems, communication technology, IT, quality assurance and delivery of real value while showing an industry we can do better.
* Proven experience in problem solving infrastructure, telecoms and data systems / products within building, infrastructure or rail environments.
* Ability to investigate failures and undertake trend analysis across digital products and data systems.
* Working knowledge of standards relevant to safety, component, product and compatibility.
* Willing and able to support the development of investment strategies, condition assessment, and risk-based planning.
* Experience working with contractors and verifying / troubleshooting system or technical compliance on site.
* Demonstratable knowledge of ISO 55001 asset management principles, or willing to learn.
* Real world practical experience of how data and infrastructure systems and hierarchy and knowledge of how they are built and configured is essential, experience is key.
* Proficient in use of Microsoft and Google suite software, asset databases and document control systems
* Excellent communication, leadership and analytical skills,
* C&G, Trade apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 with appropriate on-site experience is acceptable. Development in systems would be part of annual review and CPD offering.
* BTEC/HNC/HND or degree in relevant subject (electrical/telecoms) or similar is desired but not essential, willing to attain accredited engineer (DPE) standing is.
* EngTech, IEng, CEng and member of a professional engineering institute preferred but not essential, willing to attain this is via CIBSE / IET
* Knowledge of NR/L2/INI/02009, AMS 2.6 and other Network Rail interface standards
