Role Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities. This role involves managing the full sales lifecycle—from lead generation through to contract negotiation and closure—while ensuring alignment with company growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target markets and sectors
* Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of contract-based prospects
* Build and nurture long-term client relationships to drive repeat business
* Lead the preparation, submission, and negotiation of commercial contracts and tenders
* Collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, operations) to ensure contract compliance and feasibility
* Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activity, and potential growth areas
* Deliver compelling presentations and proposals tailored to client needs
* Negotiate terms, pricing, and service-level agreements (SLAs)
* Ensure all contracts comply with UK regulations and company policies
* Maintain accurate records of sales activities using CRM systems
* Meet or exceed revenue and contract acquisition targets
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in business development, sales, or contract management
* Strong understanding of contract negotiation and commercial terms
* Experience working with tenders, frameworks, or procurement processes (e.g., public sector desirable)
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritise effectively
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
* Knowledge of UK contract law and compliance requirements is advantageous
