An exciting opportunity for an ambitious Senior Scientist with experience in Protein Characterisation (RP, SEC, icIEF) and/or Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to join our team at Lonza. Based in Slough (UK), this role is pivotal to our ongoing success and growth. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for planning and executing analytical testing on therapeutic proteins to support product Characterisation and Biocomparability studies for our customers.
You will collaborate with peers across teams to ensure meticulous execution of projects and identify refinements to our standard practices. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to significant scientific advancements. Key responsibilities include:
1. Independent planning and execution of analytical assays, such as HPLC-based methods, electrophoresis, LC/MS-based methods, and higher-order structure methods, to characterise biologics products.
2. Execution of assigned assays with a focus on safety, quality, timeliness, and accuracy, adhering to regulatory requirements where appropriate.
3. Completing and peer-reviewing laboratory documentation.
4. Maintaining analytical equipment, technologies, and systems required for characterisation stages.
5. Communicating progress and escalating challenges to the Line Manager and/or study director as appropriate.
6. Identifying, troubleshooting, and escalating technical issues effectively and promptly.
7. Providing practical training and actively participating in scientific discussions.
8. Joining the out-of-hours call-out rota to respond to alarms on cold storage units.
Key requirements include:
* Practical industry experience in a relevant laboratory environment, including HPLC, LC-MS, and electrophoresis.
* Experience in the use and troubleshooting of a range of analytical equipment.
* Theoretical knowledge of protein chemistry and regulatory requirements for characterisation and biochemical comparability studies.
* Ability to analyse data, interpret results, and perform root cause analyses.
* Strong collaborative skills to ensure business, regulatory, and customer needs are met, with an ability to mentor team members.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for customer interactions and training.
* Ability to draft protocols, reports, and SOPs.
