This is a new role and is more about strategic thinking than the letter of the law so is more strategy than advisory. The shipping company is looking for someone that can suggest solutions to situations, someone that is proactive, confident and approachable. Key responsibilities include:
1. Claims Management & Resolution: Lead the handling of high-volume and complex P&I (Protection & Indemnity), Marine Liability, or Hull claims, ensuring efficient and cost-effective resolution in line with company ethos.
2. Leadership & Team Management: Deputise for the Head of Claims in their absence, providing leadership and mentorship to the claims team. This includes supporting recruitment, training, and development of junior team members.
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with teams, insurers, P&I Clubs, law firms, surveyors etc.
