2 x Fixed Term posts for 12 months covering maternity leave. Post 1: Full Time – 36 hours per week. Post 2: Part Time – 30 hours per week. Band 6 – Salary Range £43,231 – £52,679 per annum. Distant Island Allowance £2,578 per annum. Relocation Assistance up to £4,000 available.
Job Overview
We are looking for a registered midwife to join our team at Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland. Candidates can be experienced midwives or Band 5 midwives wishing to gain experience in integrated teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide woman‑centred maternity care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Travel to and from rural locations, including on‑call and air‑ambulance transfers to the mainland.
* Work flexibly to cover maternity leave during a fixed‑term contract of 12 months.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered midwife.
* Effective interpersonal and organisational skills; able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to travel and adapt to the flexible demands of a rural community.
* Willingness to undertake the PVG Scheme or update prior to formal offer.
