It is expected that the post holder will be able to support the Senior Financial Accountant and Deputy Finance Business Partner in their duties, ensuring that financial governance principles and policies are reflected within the operations of each directorate.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will support on the delivery of all aspects of the month-end closedown and delivery of the Trust's and Private Patients monthly financial position.

They will support the Senior Financial Accountant on the impact of any system changes relating to the portfolio, ensuring that the financial records are effectively maintained in sufficient detail to enable prompt financial control, monitoring and reporting.

And support in the identification and development of directorate improvement programmes, monitoring their achievement and evaluating their successes.

Language

Essential criteria

1. •Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role

Technical skills

Essential criteria

2. •Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft office applications
3. •Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Intermediate level experience of functions

Desirable criteria

4. •Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, required to design new and/or improve existing financial monitoring systems
5. •Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information.

Experience

Essential criteria

6. •Previous management accounting experience within the NHS or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS.
7. •Previous experience of monitoring budgets and variance analysis or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS
8. •Previous experience of data manipulation (with large data sets) or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS.

Desirable criteria

9. •Previous experience of working within the NHS, preferably within an NHS Foundation Trust.
10. •Experience in the use of E-Financials software packages
11. •Experience in the use of Business Objects.
12. •Understanding of activity, income and expenditure forecasts, including the modelling of different scenarios.

Interpersonal

Essential criteria

13. •Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
14. •Confident in dealing with Finance colleagues and budget holders
15. •Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable criteria

16. •Ability to communicate sensitive/ contentious financial information in a clear and persuasive way. This will include communication with people with non-financial backgrounds.
17. •Confident in dealing with people at all levels of the organisation
