Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Kestrel House School, Crouch End, London N8 9EA
Salary: £23,500 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team at Kestrel House School in Crouch End, London – part of Options Autism – where every day is an opportunity to make a real difference.

About the Role

You’ll support our teachers in delivering creative and tailored learning experiences to pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start or grow their career in education, particularly within the SEN sector. You’ll be part of a school that prioritises quality, safety, and pupil voice — where children and young people are not only supported, but truly heard and respected.

What You'll Do

Support individual pupils and small groups inside and outside the classroom

Help prepare materials and maintain a positive learning environment

Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and independence

Contribute to lesson planning and classroom activities

Support pupils’ physical, emotional, and educational needs

Promote and uphold a strong safeguarding culture

What We’re Looking For

GCSE Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) – essential

Calm, empathetic, and patient approach to working with children

Team player with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn

Genuine interest in supporting children with special educational needs

Previous SEN or classroom experience – highly desirable

Adaptable, resilient, and ready for a rewarding challenge

About Us

Kestrel House School is a specialist SEN school located in Crouch End, Haringey Borough. We support pupils aged 5–16 with autism and associated communication and learning challenges. Just a short walk from an Overground station and served by multiple bus routes, the school is well connected for commuters.

You’ll be joining a school where children are respected, heard, and supported in achieving meaningful outcomes. You’ll play a key role in assisting teachers and ensuring pupils’ wellbeing, comfort, and safety.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.
