Overview
Head Receptionist position at Mildmay Veterinary Hospital, Winchester. This is a part‑time job share role working 4 afternoons Monday to Friday and all day Tuesday, around 25 – 30 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Provide a friendly and efficient service to clients and their animals in a busy, professional team environment.
* As joint Head Receptionist, manage the large reception team, conduct regular team meetings, and perform monthly 1:1s with direct reports, supporting their wellbeing.
* Ensure reception and practice information is cascaded promptly and adopted by the team.
* Oversee the clinical diary on a daily basis and carry out general reception duties.
* Answer phones, respond to emails, book appointments, register new clients, complete insurance forms, take payments, and provide a warm, welcoming experience to clients arriving at the clinic.
* Act as the first line of contact for customer queries and complaints.
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing a team to success.
* Strong time management and the ability to reprioritise your day as new demands arise.
* Previous experience in a customer-facing role is essential; veterinary industry experience is advantageous.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and show empathy in all situations.
Training and Development
Access to our Client Care Hub, a dedicated space on our Knowledge Hub for client care resources. You will join a support session within your first weeks, meet a Learning Partner, and begin your training journey, with ongoing sessions over the next six months. Training is in addition to in-practice training.
Salary
Up to £28,500 depending on experience (pro rata).
