Job overview
Applications are invited for a full-time post at a 660-bedded acute hospital serving a local population of approximately 400,000. The appointment will follow the 2003 consultant contract terms.
The successful candidate will be supported in developing specialty interests such as orthognathic surgery, skin surgery, sialendoscopy, and tempo-mandibular joint replacement services.
Luton Hospital is the hub for an OMFS network covering Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes & North & East Herts, with occasional work on other sites within the network.
Weekly commitments will comply with EWTD guidance and recommendations from the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, detailed in the Job Plan.
The appointee will participate in a 1:8 on-call rota based at Luton & Dunstable Hospital and be encouraged to join the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons' New Consultant Forum. Mentorship within the Trust will be arranged.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will join a team of 8 Consultant OMF Surgeons providing services across several hospitals, with competencies in assessing and performing a full range of OMFS procedures, including trauma and outpatient services.
The department is well-equipped, with a Maxillofacial Laboratory, digital imaging, day surgery facilities, and a dedicated team of trained staff.
The Trust is committed to training and education, with excellent facilities and accessibility to London and the Chilterns.

Applications are subject to full Occupational Health Clearance and DBS checks. Candidates must hold full UK GMC and GDC registration, with CCT or equivalent, and relevant clinical experience, including head and neck surgery with microvascular reconstruction.
