How will you make an impact in this role?

The Associate Manager-Privacy Operations & Integration will sit within the newly formed Global Privacy Center of Excellence (GPCE) and be part of a team who is responsible for enabling privacy across the First line of Defense (1LOD). This role will assist with the execution of privacy and data protection standards across business units to manage privacy risk within processes, products, projects, third-party services, or other activities that involve the processing of personal data.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Assist with embedding privacy into daily operations, design, products, and processes
2. Support stakeholders in effective identification, assessment, mitigation or privacy risk across business units
3. Partner across second and third lines of defense to align controls and audit readiness
4. Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders, helping them implement privacy requirements
5. Work with partners in the Global Privacy Center of Excellence to facilitate enterprise-wide privacy risk management in alignment with organizational best practices
6. Provide guidance in managing privacy risk to drive enterprise continuity across different regions and business units
7. Provide support in managing privacy risk across cases including product development, AI, third-party, cross border transfers, regulatory exams, second-line effective challenge, and audits

The successful candidate should be able to and or have:

8. High degree of organization, individual initiative and personal accountability and resiliency
9. Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to lead, engage, influence, and encourage partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
10. Proven ability to manage multiple demands successfully within a matrixed organization
11. Track record of creating and leading strong cross-functional teams
12. Enjoy solving large and complicated problems
13. Ability to maintain a positive, can-do’ attitude

Minimum Qualifications:

14. Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field
15. 1+ years of experience in Privacy risk

Preferred Qualifications:

16. Advanced Degree
17. Industry credentials (e.g., IAPP)
18. Prior Financial Services or Banking Industry experience
19. Prior experience with privacy-related processes across an Enterprise or local level for a financial services company
20. Prior experience with driving results in a fast-paced environment often with significant ambiguity and needing to make decisions with less than perfect information
21. Prior experience using enterprise-thinking to quickly identify areas of improvement

Non-considerations for sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the UK is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
