Join us as a Service Technician to support our team based in London and the Southeast, covering the Battersea and Wandsworth areas. The successful candidate will perform planned preventative maintenance on portfolio lift/escalator equipment, complete Schindler safety inspections, and address any open non-conformities to current legislation or standards. You will work to improve equipment condition to extend time between technical call-backs and reduce downtime, including minor repairs and lifecycle replacement of components. You must adhere to all company safety and conduct procedures and provide coverage on an on-call rota for out-of-hours calls, maintenance, and repairs.
Responsibilities
* Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repairs and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+).
* Rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and verify correct functioning.
* Check lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, including checks of speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved tooling and protective equipment.
* Carry out routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator in accordance with approved procedures and reinstate equipment, completing service documentation.
* Perform more advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using various techniques, manuals, and test equipment to restore equipment to service. Use written or graphical information effectively.
* Carry out site surveys and attend training to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and skills.
* Work in accordance with the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler safety standards; model safe behavior.
* Contribute to the Company safety objectives by maintaining current safety systems and implementing changes to the safety management system where applicable.
Qualifications
* Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs (preferred).
* Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
* Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
* Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi-brand equipment.
* Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and with efficiency.
* Ability to work independently with a flexible approach and good communication skills at different levels (client, service leader, inspectors).
* Manual dexterity and ability to record written information; proficient with hand and power tools.
* Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills; good administration and punctuality.
* Full UK driving license.
