The vacancy
Are you passionate about supporting learners with additional needs? We are looking for an Assistant ALS Coordinator to join our dedicated Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. In this role, you will help coordinate in-class support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ensuring they have the best possible experience and outcomes.
You will spend approximately 50% of your time in the classroom, working closely with learners and support staff, and the remainder coordinating and supervising the delivery of high-quality support services.
Essential Criteria
1. Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification
2. Experience providing day-to-day support for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
3. Strong knowledge of a wide range of learning difficulties/disabilities and effective support strategies
4. Experience of needs assessment and implementing support plans
5. Understanding of safeguarding and child/adult protection issues
Key Responsibilities
6. Assist in coordinating and supervising in-class support services across a range of programmes
7. Supervise and support a team of Learning Support Assistants
8. Act as a key contact for Looked After Children and liaise with the Head of ALS to monitor progress
9. Maintain accurate monitoring and reporting of ALS activities
10. Contribute to staff development by identifying training needs and supporting skill development
11. Attend meetings, case conferences, and disciplinary hearings as required
12. Support curriculum areas with PEEPs and liaise with Health and Safety teams
13. Undertake administrative duties to ensure smooth operation of ALS services
