Trainee Accountant Apprentice Post No: 42694 Salary: Starting from £25,584 to £35,235 per annum Grade: Grade 3 to Grade 5 depending on experience and qualification Hours: 37 hours per week Place of work: Worthing Town Hall/Hybrid Working Policy Applies Closing date: 22nd June 2025 Interviews: w/c 30th June 2025 This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to build a comprehensive skillset in a supportive financial environment. You'll be at the heart of our operations, contributing to crucial financial processes and gaining active experience in a variety of key areas. The Council is offering an opportunity to train to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). The successful applicant must be committed to studying for the CIPFA professional qualification and becoming an active member of our thriving accounting team. The course you will undertake is Accountancy or taxation professional, Level 7, the provider is CIPFA and the typical duration to gateway is 36 months (this does not include EPA period) Your responsibilities will include: Becoming proficient in our Financial Management System through accurate data input. Developing your analytical skills by creating and manipulating insightful spreadsheets. Gaining valuable experience working with both Microsoft and Google productivity suites. Playing a key role in the preparation of Revenue Budgets for specific services, providing you with a deep understanding of financial planning. Contributing to informed decision-making by producing regular financial monitoring reports for team members and service departments. Sharpening your accounting skills through the preparation of final accounts for designated services. Ensuring accuracy and integrity by performing reconciliations of assigned control accounts. Utilising your organisational skills to produce information for Freedom of Information requests. Contributing to the smooth running of the team through administrative support. Expanding your knowledge by providing cover for the Treasury Management team when needed. If this sounds like the role for you, we look forward to receiving your application!
