The Edinburgh Academy is seeking to expand the bank of self-employed Voluntary Music Teachers (VMT) within the Pipe Band Team; specifically, an experienced and enthusiastic Bass and Tenor Drum Teacher from August 2025. We anticipate this will require a commitment of one and a half days of teaching per week, potentially increasing to up to 2 full days. We welcome applications from well-qualified music graduates with relevant teaching qualifications and/or experience, with a proven track record in teaching pupils from primary to S6. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic person with a passion to develop the Bass Drum and Tenor Drum programme of The Edinburgh Academy. Teaching can be situated across both sites of the Academy – Arboretum and Henderson Row. The Academy sets a minimum charge for lesso ns and requi res the VMT to pay a Facility Charge for the use of resources within the School. As a self-employed VMT, there is a direct relationship between the VMT and parent and the VMT is responsible for invoicing parents directly in respect of their agreed tuition fees. The VMT may have the opportunity for group coaching, or be required throughout the year to support school rehearsals or competitions such as CCF events, RSPBA and Non-RSPBA competitions as well as other events. Such involvement would be remunerated at the hourly rate for that year. About the school/organisation The Edinburgh Academy is a fully co-educational school. The School consists of a Senior School, Junior School and a Nursery Department. The School is a member of HMC. The Edinburgh Academy moved to full co-education across the whole school in 2008.
