This is an exciting multifunctional role involving both on-site and office work, designed to develop our next generation of expert in wastewater treatment processes by providing opportunities to learn new skills while making a valued contribution to the Science Team.

As Graduate Scientist, you will provide scientific management of data and information to our Hinkley management team NNB (Nuclear New Build), including specific wastewater treatment process management support for the Scientist and Treatment teams, ensuring 100% compliance with the relevant environmental and regulatory standards.


What you’ll do

* You will critically monitor and analyse data from the wastewater treatment works, surface water, groundwater quality and sewage reports as well as instrumentation data downloads collected across Hinkley Point C construction site.
* Assisting the Process Scientist with their work such as completing data analysis for weekly, monthly, quarterly/annual reporting to client and EA.
* Providing process support during operational issues
* Monitoring the effectiveness of sewage treatment process and surface water treatment
* liaison with treatment teams to optimise processes and new trials.
* Perform jar testing to identify the optimal chemical dosing rate.
* Collating and storing data reports, service/ maintenance records, and calibration documents.


What you’ll need

* An undergraduate degree level education in Water Engineering (in particular water, wastewater and sludge treatment)
* Data analysis skills
* Communication skills, ability to network within the company and externally.
* Microsoft Excel skills to an intermediate level
* The ability to produce accurate reports for a range stakeholders
* Skilled in the organisation and presentation of data.
* Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes would be desirable.
* Laboratory experience would be desirable.
* Full UK driving licence
* Experience relevant to the water industry, environmental management, or chemistry would be beneficial.
