Junior Network Engineers play a vital role by assisting in implementing, maintaining, and supporting our client’s network infrastructure. Junior Network Engineers are part of a Network Engineering team that is responsible for supporting and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures (such as 24 x 7 x 365) that meet business objectives and SLAs (service level agreements) or break-fix agreements. Engineers must also be willing to work unsociable hours, weekends as and when required, as well as an on-call rota basis. Key Responsibilities Support the network break-fix team on all network configuration and maintenance of network equipment Carry out data cable installation or maintenance requirements Containment systems installation Reading and interpreting CAD drawings, technical designs, and work to programme schedules Full driving licence (desirable) Requirements Understands the fundamentals of Networking, OSI model. Understands the issues involved in administering and maintaining corporate WAN/LAN Assists with basic troubleshooting, backup, and archiving Assisting in maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting Reporting network status, risks, issues, constraints and dependencies to line managers and key stakeholders Escorting 3rd parties whilst they are under our access and reporting responsibility Assists performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations Working to timescales within SLA – this will typically be under pressure due to the limited window available for maintenance/access Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution Ensuring network documentation (Stock Register) is kept up to date Assist to produce documents for works and conduct site surveys including detailed reporting of outcome Ensure main action points/full report are communicated to relevant program managers Stay up to date on all relevant H&S legislation and apply to the day-to-day working environment including customer requirements Work in a neat and tidy manner and ensure all sites we work at are left clear from waste per shift Drive company van, including collection and delivery of materials from HO (Woodley/Woolwich) to site.
