We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Consultant Neurologist to join our NHS Client in the Essex region. This is a substantive post offering the opportunity to build upon a strong foundation of neurological services and help shape their future development.

The post comprises 10 PAs per week, including 8.5 for Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 for Supporting Professional Activities. There is no on‑call commitment.
You’ll manage a diverse caseload, including general neurology and epilepsy patients, while contributing to specialist clinics that reflect your sub‑specialty interests. Working collaboratively with experienced Consultants and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialists in Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality, and innovative neurological care.

About the Department
* The Neurology department delivers high‑quality care across a broad range of conditions, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and motor neurone disease. The team currently includes five Consultants and a dedicated group of Clinical Nurse Specialists providing expert, patient‑focused services supported by advice lines and outpatient clinics.
* They see over 5,000 outpatients annually, supported by a robust secretarial team and a collaborative multi‑disciplinary culture. The successful candidate will inherit an established caseload following a colleague’s retirement and have the chance to make a significant impact from day one.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert diagnosis and management for patients with neurological disorders.
* Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering outstanding clinical care.
* Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and audit initiatives.
* Support education and training of junior staff, students, and primary care colleagues.
* Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and research activities.
What We’re Looking For
* Essential qualifications: MBBS (or equivalent), MRCP (or equivalent), full GMC registration, and inclusion (or eligibility within six months) on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology.
* A broad knowledge of neurological disease management and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
