Overview
The in-patient physiotherapy team are recruiting to a band 4 physiotherapy assistant within the trauma and orthopaedic speciality. We are looking for an enthusiastic new member of the team to work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering a high standard of rehabilitation to patients during their ward based stay. This role involves assessing patients, delivering treatment plans and discharge planning, measuring and providing equipment, participating in SAFER meetings, liaising with family and participating in home visits.
To work alongside all members of the team, you will hold your own non-complex caseload, attend SAFER meetings, liaise with the wider MDT, delegate to Band 3 staff, support students and new staff when joining the trust, complete supervision, peer reviews and appropriate training.
You will be supported by a registered practitioner who retains overall responsibility for patient care. The post holder is accountable for delegated tasks and must be competent and confident in what you are asked to do, ensuring it is appropriate for your role, level of practice and capability. Responsibilities
* Work with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to deliver rehabilitation for ward-based patients in trauma and orthopaedics.
* Assess patients, implement treatment plans, and contribute to discharge planning.
* Assist with equipment provision and home visits as required.
* Attend SAFER meetings and liaise with family and the wider MDT; supervise Band 3 staff and support students/new staff.
* Engage in supervision, peer reviews and ongoing training.
Qualifications
* Assistant Practitioner qualification in a relevant field or be supported to undertake one as appropriate.
* Eligible for a Trainee Assistant Practitioner (TAP) development pathway may be considered for the right candidate.
Employment details
* Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner; work delegated by a registered practitioner who retains overall responsibility for patient care.
* Acknowledgement of accountability for accepted delegated tasks and ensure appropriate scope of practice.
